Consultation & Brief
All projects start with an initial consultation on site where we listen to your thoughts, ideas and aspirations whilst gaining an understanding of how you propose to use the garden. Together we will develop a detailed brief of the style, features and materials that you require. This is followed up with a written proposal which outlines the brief, approximate schedule and a fee estimate.
Survey & Site Assesment
Once the brief is agreed we will carry out a site survey. For larger gardens professional site surveys are commissioned. At this stage we will liaise with other relevant specialists such as architects and planning consultants where appropriate.
Concept Design
A concept design is created that includes a sketch masterplan outlining the overall scheme. This includes landscaping and planting areas and any bespoke client requirements. This plan will be supported with visualisations that illustrate the design direction.
Developed Design
Once the concept design has been approved a detailed masterplan is drawn. This stage is presented in both 2D and 3D and includes a planting palette, material specifications and setting out drawings that will be used for the tender and construction process.
Planting Plan
A planting plan specifies the type, size and spacing of plants. This document is used for the sourcing and costing of the plants and is essential for placing and planting by the contractor.
Specification & Tender
Additional construction drawings are produced if required and contractors are invited to tender for the job of building the garden. We will guide you through the tender process and assist if required in the selection of a contractor.
Planting & Construction
The nominated contractors will manage and build the garden to the specification and detail of the plans provided. We can oversee the work or clients may choose to manage the work themselves.
Finished Garden & Aftercare
At the end of the project all you have to do is sit back and enjoy your new garden.
We will visit the garden after 3 months and then again after 6 months to make sure everything is going to plan. We work with many of our clients over the long term as we firmly believe that a garden is never finished but rather living in the moment. We are of course happy to help in any way we can.
